RINGWOOD, UK – OASIS Version 4 (OASIS V4) places Coutts ahead of the industry with cutting-edge functionality beyond the scope of a traditional library application.
“OASIS remains the user-friendly and fully customisable interface that our customers have grown accustomed to,” said Andy Alferovs, Vice President, Global Sales, Coutts Information Services. “Now with enhanced speed and functionality and a clear drive towards workflow integration, Version Four also includes exciting new tools such as automatic FTP MARC Download.”
The new version of OASIS holds the promise of forthcoming pioneering enhancements, some of which are already being introduced to Coutts customers. An integrated Out-of-print search and order function is being tested for release this summer, as well as the second phase of the Web 2.0 focused Coutts Communities. This provides added functions allowing for communication and managed sharing of information such as lists or local activity and collection collaboration across authorised groups of colleagues or institutions.
“Over the past year, the amount of effort put into developing OASIS has been impressive. Coutts actively encourages customer feedback and this really does make a difference to the way their products evolve,” commented customer Jane McDowell, from Napier University.
The customer-led OASIS Advisory Group, formed in 2006, played a valuable role in the development of OASIS V4, helping to ensure the main portal to all Coutts services remains the number one choice for library professionals of all sectors by providing them with the functionality they need.
OASIS Version 4 Beta was first released to all Coutts customers in June 2008 and has since been running in parallel with the existing Version 3, allowing users to gradually discover the added functionality of the new version in both a "play" and a live environment before switching permanently to the upgraded application. Comprehensive free training is available to all OASIS users, both new and experienced, and feedback highlights that customers find the training sessions both useful and enjoyable.
Coutts Product Manager, Jonathan Waring said: “At Coutts we are fortunate to have such an engaged community of customers, who truly have been our partners in developing OASIS Version 4. We look forward to more collaboration, in coming years, to make sure that OASIS remains as dynamic as the libraries - that will be using it to build book and e-book collections in what we all know will be a fast-changing world.”
